Some people flip NFTs, some people flip cups. But now, we may be getting the best of both worlds. PubGame is blending a fun metaverse idea with physical utility. This project is launching out of Brazil onto Polygon and may be more than just fun and games.

PubGame Metaverse: PubVerse

The PubVerse’s first game will be Beer Pong. Possibly the best part is you won’t even have to get your carpet wet. Or maybe it’s the fact you can actually win crypto playing it.

Dubbed, Play to Claim, the PubVerse will offer both free to play and play to earn Beer Pong.

The game has an interesting…spin. The kit you buy determines how dizzy you get with each score. The dizzier you are, the more points you get. But if you get dizzier than your NFT avatar can handle, game over. Maybe saying “drunk” in Brazil is like saying security in the US but I will say it, get too drunk and you fall out.

PubGame Game Details

I don’t know about you but I think it would fun to go full blown Barry Badrinath on these Pubers. Which, is another thing. I am not sure if it was a translation mistake or not but the characters are called Pubers. Maybe they meant Pubbers? I am not sure, but I can’t help but laugh at the idea of playing with my Pubers in the metaverse.

It looks like players can compete first against a computer and PvP gaming is on the roadmap. It is claimed Beer Pong is just the first of many games.

PubHouses: Staking

At this point I explore projects for utility. Some would call staking a utility. The whitepaper says you can stake into a PubHouse and earn a portion of the revenue. Another portion of the revenue goes to regenerating the play to earn rewards pool. Which is key.

Can PubGame Fix the Play to Earn Model?

Play to earn games have a history of paying rewards at a rate that exceeds the incoming supply of rewards. Most of these projects just take the money from token buyers to pay the players. In that sense, so far, most Play to Earn games have been essentially Play to Ponzi games.

What I see from PubGame is not only a Sustainability Strategy but that they are actually bringing revenue into the token through outside sources. Bringing in revenue from outside of the token is what I think the failed P2E games missed on. It’s what many non-P2E tokens missed on.

Using PubCoin Crypto in the Real World

PubGame states that they already have partners from the real world, or physical world. The idea here as that when you earn PubCoin in the game, you can use it when making transactions in either Web3 or with these physical partnership companies. But I mean, using crypto in the physical world is Web3 right?

I love this about PubVerse. When we consider the fun side of it, maybe it’s exactly the type of thing Web3 needs for more people to start using crypto. What that means is, there are people that might join PubVerse for the experience and benefits, not for an investment.

Brazil and Crypto

Various studies give different numbers but one thing is for sure, Brazilians love crypto and Brazil frequents the news with crypto friendly regulation. However, Brazil isn’t taking a wild west approach. Just last week Brazil’s President Signed Crypto Regulations Into Law. It’s great Brazil is working on both freedom of finance and safety. Hopefully the US will follow suit.
