The Snuggle Bunny

Benny was a little bunny who loved to hop and play. He had many friends in the forest, and they always had fun together. But one day, Benny woke up feeling very sick. He had a fever, a sore throat, and a runny nose. He felt too weak to get out of his cozy burrow.

Benny’s mother noticed that he was not feeling well, and she decided to take him to the doctor. She wrapped him in a warm blanket and carried him in her arms. Benny felt scared and miserable, but he knew his mother would take good care of him.

The doctor was a wise old owl who lived in a big oak tree. He examined Benny with his stethoscope and thermometer, and he gave him some medicine to make him feel better. He told Benny’s mother that he had a bad cold, and that he needed to rest and drink lots of fluids. He also said that Benny should stay home for the weekend, and avoid playing with his friends until he was fully recovered.

Benny’s mother thanked the doctor and took Benny back to their burrow. She tucked him in his bed and gave him some warm soup and honey. She also gave him a special gift: a stuffed animal that looked like a bunny. She said it was his snuggle buddy, and that it would keep him company while he was sick.

Benny hugged the stuffed animal and felt a little bit better. He named it Fluffy, and he talked to it as if it was his friend. He told Fluffy how much he missed playing with his friends, and how bored he was staying in bed all day. Fluffy listened patiently and comforted Benny with its soft fur and gentle eyes.

Benny spent the weekend snuggled up with Fluffy, reading books, watching cartoons, and playing games. His mother checked on him regularly, and gave him more soup, honey, and medicine. She also sang him lullabies and kissed his forehead. Benny felt loved and cared for, and he gradually started to feel better.

By Monday morning, Benny’s fever was gone, his throat was not sore anymore, and his nose was not runny anymore. He felt strong enough to get out of bed and hop around. He was eager to see his friends again, but he also felt sad to leave Fluffy behind.

Benny’s mother saw that he was feeling better, and she smiled. She said he could go out and play with his friends, but he had to be careful not to catch another cold. She also said that he could take Fluffy with him, if he wanted to. She said Fluffy was his friend too, and that he could keep it forever.

Benny was overjoyed. He thanked his mother for everything she had done for him, and for giving him Fluffy. He hugged her and kissed her cheek. Then he grabbed Fluffy and ran outside to meet his friends. They were all happy to see him again, and they welcomed him with hugs and cheers. They also admired Fluffy, and said it was very cute.

Benny introduced Fluffy to his friends, and said it was his snuggle buddy. He said Fluffy had helped him get through his sickness, and that he loved it very much. He asked his friends if they wanted to play with Fluffy too, and they all agreed.

They played tag, hide-and-seek, hopscotch, and other games with Fluffy. They took turns holding it, cuddling it, and talking to it. They treated it as one of their own, and they had a lot of fun together.

Benny felt happy again. He realized that being sick was not so bad after all, as long as he had his mother’s love and Fluffy’s friendship. He also realized that having friends was the best medicine of all.

He looked at Fluffy and smiled. He whispered in its ear: “You are the best snuggle buddy ever.”

Fluffy smiled back at him with its stitched mouth. It whispered in his ear: “You are the best friend ever.”
