A Flower Is Born

Doran Pulchritudinous Chloris was the first and the last of her kind. She was born from the dust of the Big Bang, when the universe was young and full of potential. She was a goddess of life and beauty, with the power to create and manipulate matter and energy. She could also grant wishes, induce fear, and shape-shift into any form she desired.

She wandered the cosmos, looking for a place to call home. She saw many wonders and horrors, but nothing satisfied her. She felt lonely and bored, as no other being could match her in power or intelligence. She longed for companionship and challenge, but she found none.

One day, she came across a small blue planet, orbiting a yellow star. She sensed something different about this planet, something that intrigued her. She decided to take a closer look.

She landed on the surface, and was amazed by what she saw. There were plants and animals of various shapes and sizes, living in harmony and diversity. There were also creatures that looked like her, but smaller and weaker. They were called humans, and they had a spark of intelligence and creativity in them.

She was fascinated by these humans, and decided to interact with them. She took the form of an old woman, wearing a pointy hat, a cape, and a walking stick. She approached a group of humans, who were working in a field. She greeted them kindly, and asked them what they were doing.

They told her that they were farmers, and that they were planting seeds to grow crops. They explained that they needed food to survive, and that they depended on the seasons and the weather. They also told her that they believed in gods and goddesses, who controlled the natural forces and watched over them.

She was amused by their simple and naive beliefs, and decided to have some fun with them. She told them that she was a goddess, and that she could grant them any wish they wanted. She also told them that she could create beautiful flowers, that would make them happy.

The humans were skeptical at first, but they soon became curious and excited. They asked her to prove her powers, and to show them some flowers. She agreed, and waved her walking stick, which was actually a device that channeled her cosmic powers. She created a burst of light, and then a shower of petals. The petals turned into flowers, of various colors and shapes. The flowers filled the field, and the air with their fragrance.

The humans were astonished and delighted. They thanked her, and praised her. They asked her to grant them more wishes, such as wealth, health, and love. She agreed, and granted them whatever they asked for. She enjoyed seeing their reactions, and feeling their gratitude and admiration.

She stayed with them for a while, and learned more about their culture and history. She also taught them some things, such as magic and science. She became their friend and benefactor, and they became her followers and worshippers.

She was happy, for a time. She felt that she had found a home, and a purpose. She felt that she had made a difference, and that she had fulfilled her destiny.

But soon, she realized that she had made a mistake. She had given them too much, and spoiled them. She had made them dependent on her, and corrupted them. She had taken away their free will, and their dignity.

She saw that they had become greedy, lazy, and selfish. They had stopped working, and started fighting. They had forgotten their original gods and goddesses, and started worshipping her alone. They had abused her gifts, and wasted her resources. They had destroyed their environment, and endangered their future.

She was angry, and disappointed. She felt that she had been betrayed, and that she had wasted her time. She felt that she had failed, and that she had lost her way.

She decided to leave them, but not to undo what she had done. She wanted them to suffer the consequences of their actions, and to learn from their mistakes. She wanted them to fear her, and to respect her. She wanted them to be her subjects, and her experiments.

She faded into the wilderness of the planet, and hid herself from their sight. But she did not leave them alone. She watched them from afar, and intervened in their affairs. She helped and tormented them at random, creating a balance of good and evil. She tested their faith, their morals, and their limits. She played with their lives, and their minds.

She never stopped.
